The Worshipful Company of Glass Sellers of London

The Glass Sellers' Annual Mansion House Banquet

On the 25th October 2016 the Glass Sellers’ Company celebrated another magnificent Annual Banquet at Mansion House.

We were welcomed by a very smart stair guard from the City of London and North East Sector Army cadets; the Egyptian Hall looked wonderful, as ever, the menu and wines were delicious; the music and especially the Post Horn Gallop excellent – thanks to the London Banqueting Ensemble; and the speech’s witty and entertaining

This year we were honoured by the Lord Mayor himself (the first time at our Banquet for at least 10 years), accompanied by the Lady Mayoress and the new Sheriffs. Past Master Rt Reverend Dr John Waine welcomed our guests, and the General Lord Dannatt, the Principal Guest, responded with some tales of his time while Constable of the Tower of London.During the his speech, the Master presented the Lord Mayor with a cheque from our Charity Fund for his Appeal Charities (the Sea Cadets and JDRF) and also invited the Lord Mayor to present Tom Bagley, from Ardagh Glass in Barnsley, with the Glass Sellers’ Best Apprentice of the Year Award.

Our thanks go to the Clerk for all the many arrangements; it was her last day as Clerk.

And many commented the evening had a buzz and a warm, friendly and fun atmosphere…. long may that also “continue to flourish, root and branch…”
