The Worshipful Company of Glass Sellers of London is delighted to once again partner with British Glass to present the Apprentice of the Year Award at the annual Glass Focus Conference.
Glass Focus is one of the major events in the glass industry calendar and will take place on Thursday 21 November 2019 at the Mecure St Paul’s Hotel, Sheffield. The headline sponsor this year is Glass Futures.
Glass Focus is a unique opportunity to celebrate and network with decision makers from across the industry and supply chain including:
- glass manufacturers
- machinery and material suppliers
- brands and buyers
- policy makers
Apprentice of the year Award
The award is open to any individual engaged in a formal apprenticeship programme within the glass industry. The judges will be looking for a winner who has shown great achievement, contribution to the organisation and continuing development during their apprenticeship. The judging panel includes Master’s Assistant Barbara Beadman and Liveryman Dave Fordham. The winner will receive their award from the Master and be invited to attend our March 2020 dinner.
Gareth Owen from O-I who won the 2018 award was nominated by his supervisors following his natural aptitude and enthusiasm around the company’s four engineering departments, as well as his incredible attention to detail leading to his log book being used as Standard Operating Procedure for future furnace repairs. Gareth believes it is imperative that other young people follow in his footsteps and enter the glass industry through apprenticeships. He hoped that his “dedication and determination would inspire and motivate other apprentices in the industry”.
