Glass Paperweight Making

Sunday 22nd May, the Master, Liverymen and friends, went to a glass-making workshop at the Adam Aaronson Studio with the aim of creating a unique paperweight.

Adam’s studio is set in leafy Surrey countryside, not far from the M25, between Guildford and Leatherhead. Adam has been a friend of the Glass Sellers for decades and was first introduced to the WCGS by former Father of the Company, Michael Nathan.

It was a glorious sunny afternoon and once we had gone through the obligatory safety talk, it was down to business!

The Master went first and created a stylish bird paperweight – showing us all by example how to use the tools and equipment. Adam was a patient and an informative teacher. We all came away happy with what we had created, having thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and experience.

To all members who have joined over the last few years, especially if you don’t have a background in glass, I would really encourage you to try something like this.

Adam’s studio, like many others, is open for public workshops and it’s a great experience.
